Bright Futures Day Nurseries Ltd Policies Document for Parents Child Protection Policy The welfare, safety and well being of all children is paramount. We have a duty to act quickly and responsibly in any instance which may cause concern. A full policy is available on request and a named Child Protection coordinator is named in the hallway. Health and Safety We aim to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, staff and parents. All our staff are made aware of their obligation to maintain this policy and are updated on relevant issues on a regular basis. Sickness & Accident Policy The staff reserve the right to exclude any child from the nursery should they be considered not well enough to attend or if they are suffering from a contagious illness. Whilst we have a realistic attitude towards the needs of parents we do request that parents refrain from bringing their children to the nursery should they not be well enough to attend. Whilst we endeavour to ensure the safety of the children, should a minor accident occur, our trained first aid staff would take appropriate action. An accident form will be completed for discussion and signiature upon your return. Equal Opportunities Policy We have a positive equal opportunities policy, which totally opposes any discrimination on the basis of race, ethnic origin, disability, sex or religion. Children, parents and staff are entitled to the same rights and this is promoted within the nursery. A full policy is available on request. Behaviour Management Policy Behaviour will be managed by giving praise and encouragement to all children taking into account their age and stage of development. Whilst we appreciate what constitutes acceptable behaviour may differ from one care giver to another, as a nursery we have established clear boundaries and should a child continually exceed these guidelines, we will agree a suitable plan of action after discussion with yourself. Special Educational Needs Policy We believe that every child should be given the opportunity to reach it's full potential. Should a child experience difficulties in learning or have emotional, physical or behaviour problems, it is through partnership with the parents / carers we can achieve the best for the child. We also encourage any child who shows a particular talent and provide an environment which promotes development. Medicine Policy We will only administer prescribed medication within the nursery and we request that any medication brought into the nursery is signed in and out using our medicine consent form. Medication for a life threatening illness will require letters from your GP and a care plan drawn up for the nursery (please discuss this further with the manager). Calpol or other pain reliever can be administered to your child provided it is clearly labelled wiith your child's name and our company forms fully completed. It can only be administered for two consecutive days. When a child has been prescribed anti biotics we ask they do not attend nursery for the first 24 hours or 3 doses of medication.
