Baby and Toddler
Unit
Our baby and toddler unit is situated on the first floor the rooms
are set out so that children are able to explore and make their
own decisions and choices from an early age. Our own curriculum
document and Sure Start’s Birth to Three Matters all contribute
to the planning and activities that we provide for the children.

This room caters for 6 babies from 3 months to 14 months, with 2
key carers (ratio 1:3). The staff in the baby room try to create
a home from home environment where the babies individual needs are
met and parental involvement is always welcomed. In the baby room
the babies are provided with opportunities to promote their sensory,
physical and emotional development, and staff always find the time
for one to one cuddles.

Over
Two’s Nursery Rooms
The over two’s are split into two age groups, 2 years to 3
years and 3 to 5 years.
The planning and activities in group two is again from our curriculum
document along side SureStart's Birth to Three Matters.
When your child enters pre-school their curriculum is the Foundation
stage, which is the curriculum that they continue to follow until
the end of the reception year in school. We are also regulated by
Ofsted to ensure the foundation stage curriculum is being implemented.

Group Two
The group two room is registered for 16 children aged 2 to 3 with
4 key carers (ratio 1:4).
The staff aim to provide a structured and stimulating environment
for children to develop in. This is where social interaction, self-help
skills, early numeracy, language and literacy are continually encouraged.
The staff also work closely with parents to ensure that when their
child is ready to begin toilet training, the up most care and attention
is given to provide each child with the guidance they need.

Pre-School
The pre-school is registered for up to 14 children aged 3 years
to 5 years (ratio 1:8). The staff work closely with parents and
other professionals from the early years partnership team to ensure
that every opportunity for learning is implemented.
Research has shown that children work well and learn more working
in smaller groups, hence the layout of the room into zoned areas.
Within these areas children can independently access equipment.
Observations are recorded and evaluated to enable us to focus on
future activities. Meal times are a social occasion and in the pre-school
we encourage the children to serve themselves as part of the preparation
in being ready for school.
We have further information on the foundation stage if you require
it.

Outdoor Area
The outdoor area is a secure area which all the children can access,
outdoor provision is part of the nursery daily routine and planned
curriculum.
Lots of different activities are available, so the area is used
as an extension of the curriculum offered inside the nursery.
